Using Your Phone While Driving- Is It Worth It?

Using a cell phone while operating a vehicle has become an extremely dangerous risk to people in Massachusetts as well as places around the world. In Massachusetts, since September 30th of 2010, the law for using your cellular devices while driving is that no one is allowed to text and drive. However, people over the age of 18 are allowed to talk on their cell phones as long as they have one hand on the steering wheel at all times. Not having your complete attention on the road can lead to serious consequences. Consequences which include getting fined, getting your license or permit suspended, or even serving jail time. You also have the risk of getting yourself and others into a car crash, getting yourself and other injured or even killed, damaging property such as your car, someone else's car, or whatever you might have crashed into. Not only are you in the car, you could have your friends, your spouse, or your children in the car as well. Do you really want to risk their well being just because you could not wait to answer a call or text that could have easily waited until you stopped at the nearest gas station or even just handed the phone to one of your passengers to answer? In 2010, it was recorded that 28 percent of accidents were caused by talking or texting on the phone. It can only get better or worse from there. Which would you prefer? Take the pledge to not use your phone while operating a vehicle here.

  1. What a horrific picture. :( It's so scary to think about any one of you or our loved ones being in that car!
